Get ready to dive into the fascinating history of stinging nettles! Learn how to transform this prickly plant into a beautiful and sustainable thread.
Historic textile artist Katie Sawyer will guide you through the history of the nettle plant, including food, fibre and mythology in an engaging talk. Following the talk, she will walk you through the process of creating your own thread in a hands on workshop. You will also get to see Katie’s in progress artwork: a cordage nettle shirt inspired by the Wild Swans fairytale.
The talk will be at the July meeting of the North Cheshire Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers.
